Crusader Talents
The largest squad of the Eryndor Crusade came to aid
the small town. There they
found the village in shambles and the people scurrying about in a panic.
The Dark
Followers were sure to return before first light, and the town’s
defenses were next to
obsolete. Without a moment to lose, Lieutenant Baren looked to the Crusaders,
and saw
the badges some of them bore on their chest garments.
“You, Architect! Take those workers and help them raise the eastern
archer
tower,” Lieutenant Baren commanded. He then pointed to a rugged
crusader with a
large backpack and an orange badge. “Firesmith, get as many fires
going as possible.
Take whatever Men and Women that are not bearing arms to assist you. We’ll
need all
the light we can get!”
Times like these are what
make the recognition of special skills a useful tool in the Eryndor Crusade.
But in the real world, talents are yet another form of achievement for
Eryndorrim not only allows individuals to become more involved in their
character, but opens another facet to the game in a large variety of ways.
All of the tests and requirements to obtain these ranks contribute to
Eryndor as a community, or richen the culture and characters of our world.
Policies Regarding Talents:
- Although rare, the rules for any given talent could
change over time, per decision of the High Council.
- Must be at least a Recruit to even declare pursuing
a Talent.
- Council Members cannot achieve Talents, but if one
obtains a Talent and then becomes a Council Member, they may still be
recognized for their Talents.
- You may obtain one Talent without any prerequisites,
but in order to achieve more than one Talent, you must have been granted
one Merit. Another Merit must be earned for each Talent pursued. In
other words, you may have only one more Talent than you do Merit.
- Any work logged for Talents is not to be credited
toward obtaining Merit. Achieving Merit is accomplished by doing extraordinarily
helpful deeds for the Eryndor community without being asked and without
any expectation of recognition.
- Can only pursue one Talent at a time. Must wait at
least one month between declaring one Talent and another.
- To officially pursue a Talent, e-mail your closest
Council Member your name, character name, and Talent wished to be pursued,
and your name and that Talent will be updated in the database in less
than a week.
- After declaring a Talent, you can begin fulfilling
the requirements for that Talent.
- Hours can be logged by a Council Member signing a
personal time chart. Any sort of work must be done with a Council Member
in viewing range. Each work session (1/2 hour increments) must be signed
by a Council Member.
- Tests must also be from a Council Member’s supervision,
and can be taken once a month.
- As usual, Council votes on the quality of “high
quality” objects.
- Fulfillments cannot ‘stack’ (ex: 4 sketches
of Alagos does not count toward 4 characters in the Eryndor Stories
as well).
- Anything in brackets ({}) must be accomplished after
obtaining that Talent. Failure to do so will result in loss of Talent.
- You can only receive recognition for a requirement
if you currently are officially pursuing the Talent of that requirement.
- Once obtaining a Talent, it will be listed under your
character picture on the Members page. You will also be recognized for
that Talent in the Eryndor Stories.
